Elements: Water

Artist Statement

For my animation, I created 4 separate shots to symbolize the 4 main elements of ISEA according to my interpretation. The crashing waves which symbolize water, are inspired by beaches in the Sunshine Coast. The double explosions represent fire and smoke, which are key themes in the culture of the First Nations people. The growing tree and flower is a Brisbane local; the Flame tree (Royal Poinciana) which symbolizes nature. Lastly, the swirling sand represents the earth, the Brisbane river inside the circle for the final shot. I chose those 4 themes since it aligned with the main themes of ISEA and themes that I could relate to on a regular basis.

About the artists

Hi! I’m Felix and I’m an animation student from Hong Kong studying at QUT. I’ve worked with both 3D and 2D animation over the years in various roles; exploring every aspect of the pipeline. I’ve also had the privilege to direct and produce a couple of student projects for the City Council and ISEA. My passion lies in working with creative people from different backgrounds to produce amazing projects. I hope to be a producer one day in the field of animation and create more great artwork for you to enjoy!
