Dreaming of the Sea
As we wrap our lives in cables and store our memories in machines the ocean patiently waits, inviting us to dream.
From the earliest days, the ocean has been our bridge to discovering cultures, worlds and the galaxy surrounding us. Tides pulled by the moon, held by the map of astronomical eternity. The memories, mysteries & discoveries of journeys taken and to come are held in its depth.
Dreaming of the Sea is an exhibition of performance and installation works that inextricably links body, story, time, memory, sound and movement. It is an invitation to reflect and intersect with the kinetic digital playground created in collaboration with machines.
Presented by SAE Creative Media University College in partnership with Ventspace, this program of works features local, interstate and international artists including; Tiare Ribeaux, Petra Gemeinboeck, Tim Gruchy, Georgie Pinn, Tara Pattenden, Finley Wegner, Deep Blue Orchestra, Briony Barr, Eve Klein, Uyen Nguyen & Kirsten Baade.
VENTspace is a coworking space, shooting studio and event venue that aims to encourage and facilitate creativity in Meanjin // Brisbane – providing a safe place for people to create, collaborate and celebrate.
